Maricopa Women in Business (MWIB) began in July of 2005 by founding members, Christine Freeman, Kimberly Diedrich of Home Is Where The Hound Is Pet Sitting, Deborah Farhat, and Kristen Carr. The original intent of the group was to create an opportunity for entrepreneurial female business owners in the growing city of Maricopa to have the opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and support the community. This intent is being realized by our current members.

MWIB holds monthly meetings. Members discuss current business trends and laws, what type of advertising works in the community, and upcoming community activities to support, among other topics. Though members are not required to do so, we often patronize each others’ businesses in a show of support, and provide each other with referrals.

MWIB members participate in such community events as Founders Day and the Salsa Festival, and have created a scholarship fund to help support the education of a motivated female graduating high school student.
